Yeah, there was a sorta Genetlemans agreement in World War 1, not to shoot the medics, afterall soldiers in war on the whole aren't savage beasts with lust for blood.

There is a difference between a combat medic and a medic though.

Combat medic would have been armed (much like they are these days)

Non-combattant medics, such as Battalion surgeons wouldn't have been carrying I don't think. Wade in SPR and Roe in BoB weren't armed.

"The main objective of the medic was to get the wounded away from the front lines. Many times this involved the medic climbing out from the protection of his foxhole during shelling or into no-man’s-land to help a fallen comrade. Once with the wounded soldier, the medic would do a brief examination, evaluate the wound, apply a tourniquet if necessary, sometimes inject a vial of morphine, clean up the wound as best as possible and sprinkle sulfa powder on the wound followed by a bandage. Then he would drag or carry the patient out of harms way and to the rear. This was many times done under enemy fire or artillery shelling. In most cases, the Germans respected the Red Cross armband."

I thought that the only ones who targeted medics were the Japanese, on the whole?

Interesting you should say that.

But I remember reading a bit from the Japanese in burma about their nursing staff being told off for running about with guns as they'd get themselves killed. If they hadn't carried them then they would have been okay.

So this shows that some japs knew how to do it right... doesn't mean they all did.

I remember reading that medics were considered primary targets by the Japanese in the PTO, but I also remember reading about this rotter called Voldemort, so it could be nonsense.

I am pretty much the definition of a 'not an expert' on the pacific theatre and would be interested if anyone has done a little digging into this. But everything I have found on Europe says that the neutrality of the red cross was predominantly respected by all sides in the ETO.

Right ok, general consensus on fall over and scream medic as an alternative to stand there with a sulk on saying hit. I say that because I'm going to suggest that if you don't get down on the ground ATLEAST then you're still going to be fair game and if you get shot you can't moan.

Excellent.

Though I would suggest to the 4 Brit commando who will have to rely on sneaking that they requests a medic through stoic gritted teeth and not announce our hidey bush to the entire German army.

That's fair enough, but in a fixed fire fight across a field, two bushes etc then the general rule would apply. Plus surely if you were all in one bush then you wouldn't need to say medic, someone would medic you anyway.

So am I right in thinking that there is a 25 player cap per team, if so Im shocked that it hasn't filled up much more quickly.

It's only capped at 25 until the Germans reach the same number...so book in as a German lol

Hey are the 16th SS bringing their 222? If they are...it's an odd feeling really, because I want to see it...but at the same time I definately don't want to see it lumbering towards me.

There's a separate thread explaining that in the Exsite Subforum area.

Hey Taff, have you put down Jim Cooper and Nick Lloyd from Dog Company on the Booked list, they paid last night? yes that's right I am persistent AND annoying haha

Why you, grrrr. :x :box:

The British forces obviously count quality over quantity. However I am going to politely decline to answer the more 'smutty' points as it is uncouth to descend into such debauchery before luncheon.
